Eileen's Random Travels

A Photoblog post of my random travels.

"Time spent amongst trees is never wasted time."  Katrina Mayer

As we headed south toward Ocean Shores Washington, we broke up our drive with a walk on the Quinalt Rainforest nature trail.  It is a gorgeous well groomed trail with a beautiful forest. It is noted that the trail is .05 to .09 miles long, a short and sweet walk. :)

The trail is winding high above the creek for awhile.

Looking down at the creek and some cascades.

Trees, trees and more trees growing out of trees.

I am sharing some of my random travel photos, this is not only for my followers but more of a reminder for me and my hubby of where we have been and what we have seen over the years. All good memories for us, I hope you enjoy too.

Eileen's Random Travels

A Photoblog post of my random travels.

"There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way and not starting." Buddha

We came across this private park while riding around looking for a nearby lake in Delaware Watergap, Pennsylvania. It kind of reminded me of a little Stonehenge. It is a spiritual sanctuary. There are hiking trails and little places to sit, relax  and meditate if you want. Cool megaliths are a magical experience. It was built and inspired by the isle of Iona off the coast of Scotland.

Eileen's Random Travels

A Photoblog post of my random travels.

"Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river." Lao Tzu

I need to delete images from my computer, there are way too many right now. I will be posting twice a week on this blog until I catch up.

Leaving our ocean front resort and the more northern beaches of the Olympic Nat'l Park we headed south for our next night stay at Ocean Shores, Washington. But, we made a few stops along the way at the Quinalt Rainforest .

We stopped at a few overlooks with a view of the Pacific Ocean. There are two people walking down on the beach, they look tiny in my photo. Click on the photo for larger viewing.

A short hike to the largest Spruce Tree in the Quinalt Rainforest.

The Merriman Falls at 40 feet is viewable from the road, there are places to park in certain areas.

This is the Bunch Creek Falls also seen from the road. The falls is about 60 feet tall

A pullover next to the river had a nice view of the Olympic Mountains in the distance.

Not sure if this is the Merriman Creek or the Quinalt River. Both are in this area.

We spent 4 nights on the coast at the Quiluete Resort on First Beach but during our 4 days we visited various beaches and the Hoh Rainforest all part of the Olympic National Park.  These are images from our hike to Third Beach.

Eileen's Random Travels

A Photoblog post of my random travels.

Recently, hubby and I went on a road trip to north western Pennsylvania. There were a couple of state parks that we wanted to visit and we also had a chance to meet Linda of The beauty around us. It was fun meeting Linda for the first time and also to see the parks. I have been following her blog since 2009. The link above shows our visit together too.

First we visited the Cook Forest State Park, it is known for an old growth forest of Pine trees and Hemlock trees. Below is the swinging bridge we crossed while walking on one of the many trails in the park.

A wooly bear caterpillar, fall colored leaves, mushrooms and the trail.

We met blogging friend Linda at the Kinzua Bridge State Park, this was not our first time visiting this park. When our son was little we took him on a train ride that went across this famous bridge. The mosaic below are scene from the visitor center and a few of the bridge.

Mosaic show the bridge which was destroyed by a tornado in 2003. You can see the bridge ruins still laying on the ground where the tornado left them.

A Photoblog post of my random travels.

"Wander often. Wonder always."

The Hoh Rainforest is one of my favorite parks of the Olympic National Park. It is lush and green, beautiful ferns, moss and trees.

View from the trail at the Hoh Rainforest.
