You can't go to Assateague Island Nat'l Seashore without seeing the wild ponies, they could be on the sand dunes, the beach or on the road.  Drive safe and drive slow.

Day one of our Ocean City Maryland getaway. On this trip we stopped at the Blackwater NWR in Cambridge Maryland on the way to Assateague Island and Ocean City Md. We always enjoy a walk on the beach, birdwatching and the ponies at Assateague Island. Below a view from the wildlife drive at Blackwater NWR.

At Blackwater NWR, on their wildlife drive we stopped and watched the winter ducks, Canada and Snow Geese, Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles  and the Tundra Swans. 

Assateague State Park and Assateague Island Nat'l Seashore and the  wild ponies. 

We also visited the Assateague State Park along with the Assateague Island National Seashore. 

The Assateague ponies were near to top of the sand dunes. 

We made a quick stop at the Ocean City Inlet parking lot, looking for some more birds in the inlet.

Cambridge, Maryland

A Maryland road trip on Aug 2-3 2021,  the photos are from our visit to the Cambridge Maryland marina on the Choptank River, the Choptank River Lighthouse and the town's World War One Memorial and fountain. 

The Crepe Myrtle trees were looking beautiful. 

The Choptank River Lighthouse is not very tall, we climbed the one set of steps to see a view of the Choptank river and marina. 

In the distance is the Rt 50 bridge, one of the twin bridges crossing the river. When the new wider bridge was built the older bridge became a fishing pier now called the Bill Burton Fishing Pier State Park.
