Anchorage Alaska

July 31, 2024,  Hubby and I flew to Anchorage Alaska. We had a week to visit Anchorage, Denali National Park and Preserve and Glacier View Alaska.

These photos are from our first day in Anchorage. We had two flights, the first from Maryland BWI and then Sea-tac airport. We had a short layover in Seattle we arrived in Anchorage between 1-2 pm. We picked up our rental car and decided to do some sightseeing. An easy drive on the Seward Hwy we made a stop at the Beluga Point an overlook where the Beluga whales can be seen. The views of the Cook Inlet and mountains was beautiful.

Our second stop was at the Potter Marsh Coastal Refuge, they had a nice boardwalk around the marsh land. Most of the birds we saw were the Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Belted Kingfishers, and some ducks.

Our last stop for the day was at the Point Woronzof Park overlook. The park is close to the Anchorage Airport.

We had nice views of the Cook Inlet and the mountains.

Dinner was at the Anchorage Chopped and Chowdered Restaurant and after dinner we checked into our Anchorage hotel for the 1st night.

Day two will be on another post, we are on the road to Denali National Park and preserve.

Thanks for visiting! Take care, have a great day!
