Doolin, Ireland May 2023

 Doolin, Ireland May 2023

May 10th, we left Clifden and drove through the Connemara region toward Galway. We made a photo stop at the Dunguaire Castle. In Galway we had a few hours to explore the Galway City Museum, we had a lunch in one of the pubs and a little walk around Galway. After leaving Galway we drove through what is called the lunar landscape of the Burren. We had one just night in Doolin at the Churchfield B&B.

The Dunguaire Castle, we did not go inside but we were able to walk around the outside.

It was raining a bit when we arrived in Galway, it was a perfect time to visit the Galway City Museum. Located behind the famous Spanish Arch, the museum has 3 floors of exhibits. A large exhibit is the Galway City Hooker boat named the Mairtin Oliver.

Below are the Grey Heron hanging out near the Galway Port, lots of Gulls, street scene in Galway, boat dock Galway Bay and the Mute Swans.

A pit stop and a photo stop, a pretty view. You can not see them in my photo but there were a lot of Swallows flying around here.

A few of the Burren wildflowers, I remember the top left is the Early Purple Orchid.  I am not sure of the other flower id's.

Below are a couple of the Burren landscapes.

Below the view from the ferry parking lot in Doolin. We stopped to pick up some of our traveling companions who took the morning ferry to the Aran Islands. The view in the distance is the beginning of the Cliff of Moher, a trail starts in Doolin that goes all the way along the cliffs.

Another beautiful day in Ireland, so much to see and do, more Ireland post coming soon.
