National Parks CLOSED

 October 5, 2013

I am linking up with Gemma's  Scenic Weekend
also please visit with Oh, the places I've been @ Tablescaper And Our World Tuesday

I am sharing my views of our National Parks..which are now CLOSED due to the shutdown.

Our government should be ashamed of themselves...the politicans are acting like children instead of doing the job they were elected to do..FOR THE PEOPLE..not for Corporations and not for themselves.

I hope they can come to some kind of agreement and end this silly shutdown..put furloughed workers back to work and open our National Parks. Not only is it a loss for the visitors.. the National Park System and the local economy is taking a hit...hotels, stores and restaurants will all lose business.

Millions of people from the USA and from around the world visit our National Parks every year.. In the year 2012...280 million people visited the National Parks..As you can see hubby and I also love our National Parks...Over the years, hubby and I have visited many of the National Parks around the USA. I can not imagine being turned away and not allowed to enter. I feel sorry for the people who were made to leave, who reserved hotel rooms and planned a yearly vacation all around visit the National Parks. Hubby and I have a trip planned soon to visit Carlsbad National Park and Guadalupe Mtns Nat'l Park.. I am hoping this shutdown is over before our trip..

I hope you enjoyed my scenic weekend post.  I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend.

  1. Wonderful pictures Eileen...... great views.
We here in Europe don't understand there is nothing more,
that disagreement in politics may have so much impact
Also sad for the people who have no job or money anymore.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

Greetings and a nice weekend, Joop

  11. You have such majestic national Parks and I am hoping to visit a few of them in years to come. But this shutdown is just unbelievable. I cannot imagine how angry tourists must be feeling after spending so much money to get to the USA and then not being allowed into the parks. These politicians need to have their heads banged together.

  12. Love your pics! We enjoy visiting our National Parks, as well. I can't imagine planning a trip, then not being able to see the park because of the government misbehaving. It's very sad.

Espero que esse impasse seja resolvido porque os parques nacionais são santuários ecológicos que ensinam como é importante proteger a natureza.

    Bom domingo!
    Boa de semana!

  18. You have said it all. It is really blackmail. You have visited some majestic parks. I would be furious if I had travelled to the states for a vacation and found everything shut, not only the parks but museums too.

  19. Your photographs are wonderful, Eileen. I can count on one hand the number of national parks that I have visited that you have shared. I hope, too, that the government ends the shutdown. I agree they are acting like children.

  22. Hi Eileen,

My goodness! You have compiled such a rich array of beautiful national parks, each of them glorious in its own special way. What a shame regarding the shutdowns!!

Thanks for sharing and bringing to light the darkness of politics that so many times affects the beauty of nature's wonders.

  28. Such a pity that the government has shut down all those beautiful parks. It is good for nothing and nobody. Your country is so beautiful! Thanks for showing all those places.

  29. Oh, don't even get me started on our government -- I'd rather say "some" government because I hate to claim it as ours!! This whole shut down is so incredibly stupid and useless!! But thank you so much, Eileen, for sharing these beautiful pictures!! All we can do is hope that they do get their act together and SOON!! Hope you have a great week!

  30. Wow, you have visited so many of the national parks. Nice photos of their beauty. As far the government shutdown, it's a disgusting tactic for those who can't be effective at the job they were elected to do!

  31. Thanks Eileen for that wonderful tour of those awesome landscapes, disappointingly i might not be able to see. They are all postcard-ish shots, so beautiful. An earthquake just hit a province here of tectonic origin, and 2 old 16th century churches collapsed while others have damages. I am wondering what happens if the earthquakes happen beneath those landscapes, might be very scary!

By the way Eileen, i have some birds, i thought about you, i should have borrowed your lenses!

  32. I agree with you. Enough is enough.

BTW, so jealous. I also want to visit as mnay national parks as I can.

  37. Most of the parks you show here I have seen myself over the years in the 90th when my American aunt was still alive. It's a shame what happens in the States, honestly for European people it's very hard to understand !

  38. I hate that the parks were closed for so long. Your pictures are wonderful!
