Camera Critters. another critter from Yellowstone

Seeing animals was high on my list of things to do when we were in Yellowstone and the Tetons National parks. Both parks are rated in the top ten for wildlife viewing. For this weeks camera critter I am posting my photos of the Moose. I just love these animals, there is just something about them and makes them a
cool critter.

It was in the Tetons and we were walking a loop trail about Heron pond or Swan lake. This is where we came across this big guy and his female was not far off. It was my coolest sighting of the trip. This big Moose was eating something in the water and then he would lift his head back up and look towards us and there was the famous MOOSE DROOL. We sat and watch this big guy for awhile, we also noticed he wore a collar. I can only assume the park service was tracking this guy, I am not sure.

This is his women, I assume. She got mad and walked away. Maybe because he was showing off.

I had a few different moose sightings but for me the Moose drool sighting was the coolest.

Sometimes I got shots like this one, this big guy was walking away.

Thanks for checking out my blog and my Moose critter. Thanks to the host Misty Dawn for hosting Camera Critters, I love looking at everyone's critters.

  1. I best not show this particular post to my husband; he will be soooooo jealous! The two animals he wanted to see the most when we were at Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP last week were moose and bear. You definitely got some great shots! Good for you! Glad they didn't charge at you....

  3. I would love to visit your National Parks...maybe some day..but I'd better not leave it too long!! I used to live near Dunbar, Scotland, where John Muir was born. He was the lad who started all this "Park" thing.

  5. Those are great moose shots, we struggled to get ours when were at the Tetons and Yellowstone last month. The moose were always pretty far away. We did get lots of buffaloes in Yellowstone though like you did, they are everywhere!

  14. What a wonderful encounter with the moose. I assume you are correct about the collar, as that is why Pennsylvania puts collars on some of their elk.

I have seen coyotes with radio collars in Lamar Valley, and others have told me about photographing sheep with collars.

  15. I love our new exhibit at the zoo, based on Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons; but the real thing is better. It is definitely a goal to get my daughter there to see all these wonderful animals.

  18. I find moose so fascinating because we don't have large mammals in NZ. We were lucky enough to see a moose on our latest trip to the US. Thanks for sharing!

  22. Hello Eileen,
    Great Moose photos!
You had visited my blog once and I see in your bio that you have visited the National parks, Yellowstone for one.

We're are thinking of visiting in the spring, perhaps April, what areas would you recommend for a short trip of one week including travel to there?
